NOISE FROM SPORTS AND LEISURE FACILITIES

5.2.4 VDI guideline 3770: Characteristic noise emission values of
sound sources – Sports and leisure facilities

VDI guideline 3770 contains characteristic noise emission values for a number of sound sources in the context of sports and leisure facilities:

communication noises, football, field hockey, American football, tennis, ice hockey, public ice skating, ice stock sport, summer ice stock, skate parks, outdoor pools, adventure pools and water parks, track and field events, soccer grounds, motor sports facilities, beach volleyball, inline hockey, streetball, outdoor sound systems, fairgrounds, folk festivals, markets, circuses, leisure parks and pleasure grounds, club houses and community centres, stationary water ski facilities, summer toboggan runs and dog training places

Sound power levels are given for these facilities and activities. If possible, the contributions from actors, spectators, loudspeakers and other relevant sound sources are indicated separately.

Noises from car parks and roads associated to the facilities shall be calculated pursuant to RLS-90, which includes indications on the number of car park movements as well. The guideline also contains several calculation examples.

So this guideline is a helpful tool to calculate sound immissions according to the Ordinance on the Prevention of Noise from Sports Facilities (18th Federal Immission Control Ordinance) and the Guideline for Leisure Noise.
